My professional and academic background has been shaped by involvement with Public Health issues related to human lactation, children's growth and development. For the last 15 years my collaboration with environmental chemists geared my current experience on adverse effects of environmental pollutants. Lately I have combined nutritional issues with toxicology to address metabolism of neurotoxic metals (lead, mercury, and aluminum) exposure during pregnancy, lactation, and throughout childhood. In the last five years, my research has increasingly concerned with early life exposure to different forms of mercury, integrating food and iatrogenic exposure. My research has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. I have authored and co-authored more than 170 papers; 70 since 2006 in journals of public health, environmental sciences, toxicology, and pharmacology (median impact factors, 1.6 to 2.1).
